Ben Foster has a tattoo in Armenian that he got while filming Here (he talks about it here, toward the end http://www.bullz-eye.com/movies/interviews/2011/ben_foster.htm) and I noticed it while watching Contraband. There was a closeup of the letters TIA in Armenian. WIsh I could find a screenshot of it.

Another show (Shameless) shooting scenes in an Armenian convenience store. This can only mean that Armenians have finally monopolized the convenience store market, which means free slurpies for anyone with an “ian” in their name. I’m psyched!

I give you the greatest random Armenian reference in pop culture I have ever witnessed in my life. Granted they don’t actually mention anything about Armenians specifically, and adult swim and Tim and Eric is pretty much the opposite of mainstream pop culture, but dammit, Harout Pamboukjian asked a widespread television audience “How many of you you like a spaghetti and meatball songs?”, and there is no way I am not including it on here.

That last post was literally more depressing than the realization that the Kardashians literally took an infamous miscarriage of justice (OJ’s double homicide), a homemade sextape with a borderline famous black guy, and a moderate case of the ol’ jungle fever - not to mention America’s insatiable appetite to witness mediocre people do mediocre things - and turned it into millions upon millions of dollars. Literally.

To lighten the mood here is a more lighthearted reference to how Armenians have an aversion to soap and like to steal. Hooray for positive stereotypes!

Skip ahead to the 1:00 minute mark for the Armenian reference, but the whole thing is literally a great way to kill 4 minutes at work. Literally.

Agatha is completely stunned when his son is apparently accused of murdering a little girl. Intense.

Also notice the Armenian magazines in the bottom right hand corner. Is there really an Armenian publication entitled Griminal Jham (Criminal Times)? Is this real? What is the purpose of that magazine? Is it a trade magazine where Armenian criminals discuss the secrets to their criminal successes? Is it just a massive crime log that documents all the VW GTI’s that have been recently reported stolen or missing? These questions deserve answers, people.

Side note, Whats with this trend of crappy cable cop dramas using Armenians as criminals? I miss the good old days when Armenians were wholesome cowboy immigrant loners.

Apparently Zollie has fled persecution in Armenia and is standing up for the rights of minorities that aren’t Armenian….wait a second, I’m not so sure this Zollie character is the real deal. Lets do a quick (and not so politically correct) breakdown of the situation:

Things Armenians do:

Have lots of hair on their face/body
Have not so much hair on the top of their head
Have a funny accent
Speak in the third person
Tell random strangers their entire life story/history of the Armenian people
Wear funny hats
Act hard and then at the first sign of a woman’s anger cower and immediately do whatever the woman wants
Call people racist names like “Mr. Chinese” as if its completely appropriate

Things Armenians don’t do:

Not be a jeweler
Be a Cowboy
Risk his life for random stranger who just tried to kill him
Have a wedding with less than 700 people attending
Have the name “Zollie”

Well, I guess Zollie is Armenian after all! It was close though…

I don’t. I don’t even remember if they actually mentioned the word Armenian in that episode. My mom didn’t let me watch the Simpsons. But you better believe all the other Armenian kids (who were allowed to live like animals, what with their fancy sodas at lunch and MTV posters and power rangers and staying up past 8:30) were talking about it at school the next day.

Anyways, amazingly there are no clips of this moment on youtube that I can find, so if anyone can help track this down, feel free to send it over.
